“Massage with beer, it’s great, my dear!”

Smell, hear, taste – all during a massage?
Whether you’re a beer lover, someone who likes to experiment or doesn’t like massage: everyone will get a taste for the unique beer massage at the Hotel Luise. Let your senses take you to another place during the massage in Erlangen and get to know the Steinbachbräu and beer in a completely new way.

Not everyone can switch off with a massage

That’s exactly what Ben Förtsch thought when he developed the new concept:

“I can’t lie on a massage table and just turn my head off. He keeps working and that’s why you’re not really any more relaxed at the end.”

The massage: A story about Erlangen and beer

Together with Christoph Gewalt, owner of the Steinbach Brewery, we tried to retell the origins of Erlangen’s beer tradition with the basics of beer brewing. And authentic and truly Franconian.

The concept of the massage fits the brewery in Erlangen very well, says Christoph Macht, as something extraordinary, a specialty, is created here.

“As a specialty brewery, we brew beer as artisanally and originally as possible and are one of only a few breweries to use our own malt. We always want to offer our guests special brewing skills and now even a beer massage.”

Beer and its healing ingredients

The ingredients for a good beer, with their health-promoting active ingredients, have also found a place in natural medicine for decades. These substances also have important therapeutic value:

Malt

As a supplier of high-quality proteins, B vitamins and trace elements, it is primarily considered to improve performance and strengthen the nervous system and brain performance.
As a warmed oil or balm mixture, the ingredients can be spread easily and very pleasantly on the skin. Our skin is a very large and also a very important organ with which we absorb various substances into our metabolic system and into our digestion. In this way, various body reactions can be triggered both physiologically (e.g. muscle relaxation) and psychologically (e.g. reducing stress).

With these healthy ingredients, we not only want to pamper our customers, but also contribute to their health – both from the outside and from the inside.

Hop

It is used for stomach problems and loss of appetite. Hops also have a calming effect and help with anxiety. Hop tea also helps with sleep disorders.

Barley

The Greek Olympians as well as the Roman gladiators used barley to increase their strength and endurance.
In Japan and Korea, people still like to drink barley tea to this day, for example to prevent stomach ulcers. And in traditional Tibetan medicine, barley is considered healing because it stimulates the intestines. Scientific studies have now shown that barley can lower blood sugar levels.
