Erlangen a sporty city

Erlangen is considered one of the most cycle-friendly cities in Germany! Our cyclist’s hotel in the centre of Erlangen offers the perfect mix of sport and relaxation for every age-group of cyclists.

The Franconian Huguenots city of Erlangen is a waypoint on the “Regnitz Cycling Trail” and offers a great starting point for cyclists that would like to go on an excursion into the Franconian Switzerland. The Franconian Switzerland, as it is called by locals, awaits you with beautiful views, a dense network of cycle paths and is situated right on the doorstep of Erlangen.

Cyclists that want to enjoy a leisurely outing will find the flatness of the region very forthcoming. During a cycling tour around the Aischgründer carp ponds or an excursion along the Main-Danube Canal to Bamberg or Nuermberg, one can admire the Franconian cultivated landscape. In the sports and medicine city of Erlangen, cyclists can undertake a sports-medical check-up conducted in cooperation with the Institute of Sport Science at the University of Erlangen.

With its three swimming pools, Erlangen is geared for your swim training or a short cool off in summer. The Hannah-Stockbauer indoor pool is less than a five minute bike ride away and is, with its 50m lanes, perfectly suitable for training.

Erlangen is a city with many green areas. In only a few minutes you can get out of town and onto forest trails or onto a paved way along the nature reserve Röthelheim. If you cannot or do not want to jog,  you can just go walking on the outskirts of town.
